In an article from Sunstar.com, a 5.0 magnitude earthquake has shaken some parts of Mindanao over the weekend which resulted in cracks and minor damages in some houses and buildings in Valencia City and Lantapan in the province of Bukidnon.

Authorities have already monitored the effects of the earthquake based on the reports of various Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (DRRMO) in the said province.

One of the affected barangays in Valencia City is Brgy. Banlag where the barangay hall was slightly damaged with cracks. Another affected barangay was Brgy. Lurogan where some concrete houses have also seen some cracking.

Also, a 7-year-old girl acquired minor bruises on her back due to falling debris.

Slight damages on the New Bus Terminal at Brgy. Hagkol were noticed. The ceiling of the market in Barangay Poblacion was also revealed after the earthquake.

After the earthquake, last Saturday, August 5, the Police immediately proceeded to the affected areas except for Barangay Banlag where an alleged New People’s Army troop allegedly invaded the area 15 kilometers away from the police station.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said that the epicenter of the earthquake was located in Valencia City which has a depth of nine kilometers.

Authorities have advised the public to be careful with possible aftershocks.
