The Armed Forces of the PhilippinesJoint Task Force-Ranao has revealed that 200 child soldiers who are members of Daesh-ISIS are currently posted for possible military encounters in Lanao del Sur.

According to an article by Bombo Radyo, Deputy Commander Col. Romeo Brawner said that they have already clashed with these child warriors. He stated they engaged in a gunfight during a raid against terrorist hideouts in Masiu and Pagawayan.

Based on the intel they gathered on the operation, terrorist groups including foreign ones are still recruiting members in Mindanao.

Brawner also added that remnants of the Maute Group may still be involved with these terrorist activities. And they are currently intensifying their intelligence monitoring and gathering accordingly.

As of now, the AFP has already finished clearing 35% of Marawi’s battlefield area of improvised explosives. They are also doing their best to protect and reassure the traumatized residents of Marawi City.
