In an article from Sunstar Cagayan de Oro, barangay officials and other private individuals surrendered more than 300 loose or unregistered firearms to police authorities in Ozamiz City.

Ozamiz City Police Chief Jovie Espenido said that the surrender of firearms is one of the moves of the police to draw the support of barangay officials in improving the law and order in the city.

Espenido noted that barangay officials who will not cooperate will be served with search and arrest warrant.

Barangay Embargo Chairperson Alvina Pototan handed over three loose firearms in which one is an M-16 rifle given by the Reynaldo Parojinog who was killed in an illegal drugs operation in his home last week.

Pototan called on her fellow barangay officials to heed the order and surrender their firearms especially those that the Parojinogs gave.
