Yesterday, supporters have gathered together around the grounds of the City Hall to support Mayor Oscar Moreno with the looming dismissal order. This was after the Ombudsman found Mayor Moreno to be guilty of the charges filed against him regarding his failure to publicly bid equipment rentals during his tenure as Misamis Oriental governor.

Tents were put up at the City Hall grounds, spotting the supporters of Mayor Moreno wearing red and black shirts symbolizing the people’s struggle to achieve justice for Moreno.

Despite the looming issue Mayor Moreno decided to continue his responsibilities and asked his employees to continue working as it should be and it would be business as usual in the city whatever happens.

In an article from Bombo Radyo news website, the dismissal order released by the Office of the Ombudsman for Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno has been served today, June 28.

According to Moreno’s chief legal counsel, Atty. Dale Brian Mordeno, the unknown time frame in which the Dismissal Order will be served is the reason why the Mayor asked for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) from the Court of Appeals (CA) Mindanao Station to stop the DILG from implementing it.

It could be recalled that the City Mayor’s office has filed a petition for TRO at the COA last June 22 and has filed again yesterday morning, June 27.

However, after all the efforts to serve Justice for the Mayor, supporters and the city mayor’s office could now relax for a while as the Court of Appeals has released a Temporary Restraining Order for Mayor Moreno extending his tenure for another sixty (60) days.

It was remembered that the case was filed by Antonio Nuniez Jr. for the anomalies that Moreno incurred when he was still the governor of Misamis Oriental.
