25 Aug Cagayan de Oro Carnival Parade 2015: Clash of Festive Acts and Carnival Queens
Cagayan de Oro Carnival Parade just started last year 2014, replacing what had been the most awaited fiesta competition in the past which was the Folkloric Street Dancing Competition. But nevertheless, Kagay-anons and tourists were amazed with the grandeur of the former competition entries, the winners are as follows.
Best Carnival Parade
1st Place: Brgy Carmen
2nd Place: Liceo de Cagayan University Dragon Boat Team
3rd Place: Lapasan National High School Special Program for the Arts

1st Place: Lapasan NHS Special Program for the Arts
2nd Place: Barangay Carmen
3rd Place: Dancesport Council of Cagayan de Oro
And last August 23, 2015, Kagay-anons and tourists witnessed the colorful and festive Cagayan de Oro Carnival Parade held on the streets of Luna-Velez to Divisoria. The Carnival Parade was participated among 5 contenders namely the Lapasan National High School, Macasandig National High School, Barangay 21, Barangay Gusa and Barangay Carmen with their own beautiful Carnival Queens.
First group to amuse the people lining up on the sides of Velez Street were from Lapasan National High School, led by their Carnival Queen who’s on her red bulging dress with numerous planked large black fans extended on her back.

Followed by their street dancers on their colorful costumes.

Fictional characters were portrayed among the participants of LNHS, from Peter Pan, Wolverine, to Maleficent.

The second group contender, from Macasandig National High School was being led by their beautiful Carnival Queen on her red and gold-themed costume.

She gracefully danced to their own record of festive music while following her were their long array of street dancers on their astonishing and vibrant costume.

Barangay 21 was the third group contender with their Carnival Queen on an all white costume. Followed by their participants with the same costumes, covered with black and white feathers and there were hints of peacock feathers.

Second to the last group contender were participants from Barangay Gusa led by their Carnival Queen wearing a huge headdress with rainbow-colored extension on her back.

While she was dancing in sync to their own beat of lively and loud music, she was joined and followed by their Barangay’s street dancers on their vegas-like headdresses and colorful costumes.

Last but not the least, the defending winner of last year’s Carnival Parade, were participants from Barangay Carmen. On their Carnival Queen’s elegant and shiny costume, she rode on the moving vehicle sponsored by SMART accompanied by some of the participants.

Ahead of her were their barangay’s participants, on golden festive costumes lined straightly on the street.

As you can see on the image above, one of the participants accidentally dropped his headdress but still, he managed to continue their choreo.

The Carnival Parade was concluded in front of the Kiosko Kagawasan in Divisoria. The showdown of the street dancers and the clash of the five Carnival Queens were held there. Below is the list of winners for Cagayan de Oro Carnival Parade 2015.
