China donates firearm units to Philippine armed forces

In an article from Manila Times, the People’s Republic of China pledged to help the Philippines in its efforts to finally eradicate forces of terrorism in Mindanao especially in its battle against ISIS-linked Maute bandits.

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua represented China in the ceremonial turnover of China’s “urgent” military assistance to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Pampanga last Wednesday, June 28. Zhao added that the Chinese government is committed to helping the Philippines in fighting against terrorism.

According to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, the donations of firearms include rifles and ammunition worth 50 million yuan.

Zhao said that there will be a second batch of military of military donations and would be released in the coming months.

On the other hand, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte thanked the Chinese government in its unconditional willingness to help the Philippine Republic in its battle against terrorism.
