3  passengers of Cagayan de Oro Port were invited by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) for interrogations after carrying a total of P40 Million cash concealed inside 4 styropor boxes last Monday, June 26.

In an article from philnews.ph, the three passengers insisted that they were bank employees and have shown documents as proof of their affiliation with the United Coconut Planters Bank (UCPB).

Despite that, they were still invited by the PCG for further investigations.

UCPB gave out a statement regarding the issue as posted by cdopedia.com:

“UCPB is aware of the transfer, and it is part of its normal procedure to move excess cash from one cash center to another. The movement of the cash within the Bank’s cash centers is an internal procedure, and as such, it does not need prior approval from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas,”.
