The forces of Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) already started their aggressive anti-illegal drug campaign called as Operation Tokhang last June 24, 2016 which impressively resulted in the turnover of some 300 drug personalities.

However, operatives of the COCPO have been receiving death threats since the launching of the Operation Tokhang, and the number of threats continued to rise. This was confirmed by Cagayan de Oro City direcor S/Supt Faro Antonio Olaguera in a local radio station, saying that the received death threats were meant for the COCPO’s intelligence division.

Olaguera’s suspicion is that the death threats may have come from the men of drug lords and drug syndicates after some 200 drug addicts and pushers voluntarily surrendered themselves.

Though having death threats, the COCPO is still determined to continue the operation and to finally clean the whole city from drug syndicates. In relation to this, Olaguera challenged all of the brangay units in the city to continue the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) and cooperate with the police in pointing out drug addicts and pushers in their respective areas of responsibility.
