In a report from Business Mirror, the Department of Agriculture has ordered poultry raisers in Northern Mindanao to monitor activities of migratory birds near their farm.
The order has been handed down following the outbreak of Avian Bird Flu that has affected poultry farms in Luzon.
DA-10 Quarantine Officer Dale Franco Llentic said there are about 1,000 large to small scale poultry farms in Region 10 and they have already ordered the monitoring of these farms especially in swampy areas which are a favorite nesting ground for migratory birds.
NorthMin has a large market for poultry products with over 444,064 heads of duck and 24,729 quails.
The DA-10 will provide veterinary drugs to all local government units.
