04 Nov Department of Tourism Says Miss Universe Will Start Off in Camiguin in January 2017

It can be recalled that the prestigious pageant, Miss Universe, is set to be organized in the Philippines coming January of 2017. And it is said to start with a visit to Camiguin.

“Ang purpose naman natin ay makita nila ang mga destinations natin,” said Teo. “We’re looking to feature other places in the Philippines, not just the usual tourist spots.”

This was disclosed by Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo adding that places such as Bicol, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Palawan, and Vigan will also be represented in the pageant’s events and photo shoots.

Earlier, the philippine government has already said that they will not spend anything in hosting the pageant, however, airlines, hotels, the SM Group of Companies, and the private sector already in discussions regarding the events and photo shoots to be executed in the whole duration of the competition.

The tourism secretary also added that the department has already coordinated with local governments, the Department of Transportation, the Philippine National Police, and reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach for the event.

The Miss Universe 2017 coronation night will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena located in Pasay City on January 30, 2017, at 5:00AM.
