Following the viral video posted on social media by a teacher showing students crossing a bridge made of wires just to go to school, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) constructed the “Tulay ng Pagbabago.”

According to a report from ABS-CBN News, the residents and students from Purok Gutom, Barangay Lanipao in Iligan City can now pass through a more safer bridge.

It can be recalled that the viral video was posted by a teacher named Yasmin Mangorsi which was posted three months ago, shows students named Farridah Bansil and her nephew crossing the river through wires made by the residents in the said place.

Mangorsi herself did not expect that the video would go viral which prompted the government to the end the five-year struggle with this kind of bridge.

The bridge where the residents used to cross was destroyed by typhoon Sendong.
