In an article posted by Manila Bulletin, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 10 (DSWD-10), through DSWD-10 spokesperson Oliver Inodeo,  warned Marawi evacuees yesterday that selling their goods from government donations will be removed from the list of relief goods recipients.

The warning came after reports on evacuees selling their relief goods reached DSWD.

Inodeo said that the agency heeds evacuees complaining about the “tasteless” foods supplied by the government and other relief efforts from different organizations.

In response to the concerns of the evacuees, DSWD is now planning to include other varieties of food such as chicken, dried fish, and beans in the relief packages they will give in the future.

In addition to that, the agency is now looking to launch a cash-for-work program for the affected families who are now taking shelters at evacuation centers.

DSWD-10 Director Nestor Ramos added that they are currently giving P200 per day to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) for 10 days as compensation for rendering work like cleaning evacuation centers, dredging the canals, cleaning the surroundings among others.
