In an article posted by Sunstar.com, the Department of Education (DepEd) – Northern Mindanao aims to exceed the number of blood packs gathered from the “Dugong Guro” campaign last year.

“Dugong Guro” is the biggest blood drive between public school teachers and non-teaching personnel in the region.

According to the DepEd NorthMin Director Allan Farnazo, Red Cross was able to collect a total of 19, 202 blood bags from the teachers, which exceeds the 14, 000 target blood bags last year.

He (Director Allan Farnazo) added that they are optimistic in meeting their target number of blood packs since the teacher’s personnel increased from 38,000 to 42,666 because of the new Senior High Program.

Further,  the 19,000 blood bags were able to save lives of soldiers fighting against terrorists in Marawi City.

Farnazo said that the people always think that heroes are those who are erected in monuments, those who shed blood for the country, that’s why they initiated the program by giving their own blood – an act of heroism in their own way.
