WASTE PICKERS GRADUATED

In an article from CDO  Facebook page, former waste pickers have graduated today, June 21, from the Livelihood Skills Training Program of the Cagayan de Oro City Government.

There are more than a hundred waste pickers living from the sanitary landfill in Upper Dagong, Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City who attended the event.

These beneficiaries attended courses offered by the city which included housekeeping, cookery, and beauty care.

On the other hand, City Mayor Oscar Moreno said that the Cagayan de Oro Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), Community Improvement Division and other offices in Cagayan de Oro City Hall should take the lead in looking after the welfare of the families who were affected by the total closure of the sanitary landfill.

The City Government and its partners initiated interferences by offering the livelihood skill training program in order for the families to have an alternative source of income after losing their main source of income following the closure of the said dumpsite.
