Gingoog Police With Intense Drug Operations Apprehended Brgy. Chairman

Following the drug buy-and-bust operation conducted by joint operatives at Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, a village chief was apprehended.

According to Sun.Star, current chairman of Barangay 5 identified as Gerime Cabeltes was nabbed at Aquino-de Lara Streets, Barangay 5, on December 5, Monday evening.

Elements of GCPO, public safety company of Misamis Oriental and Regional Intelligence Division (RID) conducted the drug bust operation.

Seven sachets of suspected shabu, a cylindrical container, and drug bust money were confiscated from the suspect.

The village chief was a notorious drug suspect even before President Rodrigo Duterte assumed the presidency, Superintendent Roel Lamiing, Gingoog City police office (GCPO) chief said, adding that Cabeltes was also listed as a high-value target at the provincial level.

A directive from the higher headquarters prompted them to immediately

conduct an operation to arrest provincial level drug personalities regardless of their position and status in the government, said Lamiig.

Cabeltes is taken into the custody of GCPO and will be charged for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 for possession and selling of illegal drugs.

Recently last month, a drug watchlisted suspect was also nabbed in a  drug bust operation by GCPO. He was identified as Emmanuel Lantaca, Punong village, Gingoog City chairman.
