01 Feb House Of Representatives Approves Legalization Of Habal-Habal & Angkas: Student Discount OK’d

Mga higala! The House of Representatives has approved a measure that will legalize the operations of motorcycle booking app- ANGKAS, HABAL-HABAL, and other similar forms of two-wheeled public transportation.
According to an article by Manila Bulletin, House Bill 8959 or the “Motorcycles-for-Hire Act” was passed by Congressmen during a session held last Wednesday. This bill is composed of six separate legislative proposals that would authorize the LTFRB to legalize the operation of motorcycles as public utility vehicles.
Under this bill, operators are required to provide insurance coverage for the driver, rider and third party.
Moreover, House Bill 8885 or the Student Fare Discount Act seeking to institutionalize the fare privilege for all students on Angkas and habal-habal was also approved.
