In an article from Bombo Radyo Cagayan de Oro, the table tennis athlete and CDeO’s pride-Ian Lariba will now undergo a bone marrow transplant as a treatment for her leukemia.

According to her mother Mel Lariba, the procedure of the bone marrow transplant is scheduled on September 22 at St. Luke’s Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City which was announced after she completed 3 cycles of chemotherapy for her condition.

Mel said that despite her daughter’s condition, Ian still has been optimistic in dealing with the challenges that their family is dealing with. She (Mel) also expressed her gratitude to those who extended moral and spiritual support and through helping them with the hospital expenses.

It can be remembered that Ian was one of those who are bound to be sent to Germany to represent the Philippines in a table tennis championship match but was held back due to her condition.

Ian Lariba was the first Filipina Athlete from Cagayan de Oro who represented the country in Table Tennis matches in the 2016 Rio Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
