According to a report by Mindanao Daily News, Vice Mayor Reiner Joaquin Uy will soon be assigned as the new mayor of Cagayan de Oro City. This was due to a dismissal order served by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to Mayor Oscar Moreno and three others last Monday afternoon, February 5, 2018.

Moreno and three other dismissed city officials are Elmer M. Wabe, Patrick U. Gabutina, and Rolando M. Pacuribot. They were ordered to be discharged for Grave Misconduct, Serious Dishonesty and Conduct Prejudicial to the Best of Public Service.

As we all know, Moreno has received numerous dismissal orders during the past months from the Office of the Ombudsman. However, he always finds a way to obtain temporary restraining orders from the Court of Appeals (CA) in Cagayan de Oro City.

For now, Moreno’s camp is reportedly waiting for the issuance of the “status quo ante” to render the latest dismissal order ineffective. This may be issued by the CA anytime soon according to a local official.
