Measles Outbreak Kills 21 Kids In Sarangani Province: DOH Reminds Public To Get Vaccinated

Mga higala! At least 21 KIDS, including infants and children below 10 years old, died due to a suspected MEASLES OUTBREAK in the upland communities of Sarangani Province, for the past three (3) weeks.

According to Inquirer.Net, Dr. Diomedes Remitar, a town health officer, said that more than 20 others are now hospitalized in Malapatan town and in General Santos City.

Dr. Remitar also added that the children experienced severe headaches, fever and skin rashes.

The first case of measles in the province was reported on the first week of November, and as of now, over 100 have been infected.

The Department of Health (DOH) is now conducting tests while treating the affected children. They also want to remind the public to go to their nearest health care providers for a measles vaccine because the disease is supposed to be vaccine-preventable.
