21 Sep NAGMAC: Reviving Literary and Art Appreciation Among Kagay-anons
There is indeed power and life to written and spoken art that is why it is considered as one of the many forms of arts in which humans have found a unique appetite for from one generation to another. With its popularity, various groups and organizations thrived among nations with one collective goal to spread the love for the art and all the different forms of it.

A group of youngsters and professionals in Cagayan de Oro City have taken their passion for written and the spoken art to the next level by establishing NAGMAC or Nagkahiusang Magsusulat sa Cagayan de Oro, their own recognized organization dedicated to providing an avenue for local poets, essayists, fictionists, and playwrights which aims to provide a platform for local writers, artists, and musicians to satisfy their desires to express themselves through their chosen crafts and to the best of their abilities.
Aside from that, NAGMAC is an organization that sees to it that its members will grow as an artist by supplying them with a lot of workshops and seminars to harness their skills and talents and to develop them as an individual equipped for a more challenging endeavor in the future. With this, artists with high potentials will be recognized for their talents and will also get the chance to join in national literary competitions with themes that put forth Philippine literary.

The group also aims to be the prime mover of literary arts and culture in Northern Mindanao by enticing more enthusiasts to join their rows of literary geniuses and to create a separate Northern Mindanaoan art identity for the whole country to witness and appreciate.
NAGMAC poets are now becoming a sought-after addition to some events at restaurants and cafes in Cagayan de Oro City showcasing their abilities in public speaking and music in the city’s first-ever “CDO Poetry Night”, NAGMAC’s major series of events that was founded in February 2014 and a similar format with the renowned spoken poetry on social media and television.

Also, NAGMAC writers are now seeing their works being appreciated by a wider audience through the group’s initiative to publish literary journals and folios such as the “Bulawan Literary Zine of Northern Mindanao” and by conducting literary symposia among others.
With today’s busy and fast-paced life, people have become unappreciative of how beautiful it is to experience artistic production even though technology is there to bring us to different platforms for art appreciation.
