5 NorthMin Policemen Tested Positive to Illegal Drugs, To Face Dismissal

According to Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao spokesperson Superintendent Surki Sereñas, another five police non-commissioned officers in Northern Mindanao are facing dismissal from service after testing positive in random drug tests.

The spokesperson declined in naming the five policemen, however, hinted that three of the five policemen are assigned in Misamis Occidental, one in Iligan City, and one in the Regional Public Safety Batallion and added saying, “They didn’t heed the warning and continued with their vices. They are facing the consequences now.”

This is in relation to the efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to clean house through the “Oplan Linis-Bahay”.

Meanwhile, Sereñas stressed that the policemen will be granted due process and be given chances to defend themselves in the summary proceedings.

Currently. there are already 30 policemen in the region who were already sacked for being involved in illegal drugs.

“Mga 65 percent na ta in the entire country to have conducted the drug test,” said Sereñas mentioning that they have been constantly conducting random drug tests in the region.
