On Monday, May 16, Nacionalista Party (NP) President Manny Villar flew to Davao to form an alliance with Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

NP is the country’s oldest political party. Together with Villar are his wife Senator Cynthia Villar and their son Mark Villar. Mark was then appointed as DPWH secretary.

Villar and PDP-Laban president Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III signed the “coalition for change agreement” on the same day with the presence of president-elect Rodrigo Duterte at the Matina Enclaves clubhouse in Davao City.

The signing of the document is a sign that both NP and PDP-Laban will align their plans and support the Duterte administration.

“Para magkasama, magtulungan, magkasama ang Nacionalista at PDP-Laban. We are one on policies. We are supporting the administration of President Duterte,” said Villar.
