Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives arrested alleged ringleader of a Northern Mindanao drug group last May 30, 2017, in a buy-bust operation conducted at Camella Subdivision, Cagayan de Oro City.

In an article from Sunstar.com, authorities identified the drug group leader as Kauky Capatagan who is the matriarch of the Capatagan drug group that has been operating throughout Region 10.

Together with Capatagan, her husband, Usop, and her son, Johar, were also arrested.

PDEA-Region 10 agent Ben Calibre said that following Capatagan’s arrest, she will be subjected to further investigation to confirm whether she once became a barangay chairperson in Iligan City.

Calibre added that in 2008 to 2009, Capatagan has become a hot target of the agency’s illegal drugs operations but was able to escape during a raid conducted at her house in Iligan.

PDEA operatives found a P120,000-worth of shabu weighing 20 grams as well as a .45 caliber and 9mm pistol from the suspects’ possessions. Another 37 pieces of ammunition, a backpack, and Toyota Super Grandia Van, believed to be means used for the family’s illegal drug transactions, were also confiscated by PDEA.

The Capatagan family will be facing charges of illegal drug possession and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
