President Duterte Recognizes and Awards Police Officers and Stations in NorthMin

On September 22, Thursday, outstanding police officers, and stations in Northern Mindanao were awarded by President Rodrigo Duterte for the success of their war against illegal drugs.

Officers awarded at Camp Crame were, Medalya ng Kadakilaan to Police Superintendent Arniel Agustin Catarata of Iligan City, Police Superintendent Tom Tuzon of Cagayan de Oro and Police Chief Inspector Ariel Phillip Pontillas of Agora Police Station.

Catarata was acknowledged as he arrested a major supplier of illegal drugs and confiscated a huge package of shabu weighed around 1 kilo on September 12 at Purok Sampaguita, Corpus Christi, Barangay Tubod, Iligan City.

Tuzon and Pontillas arrested Rayhana Batara alias “Sandor Osop Sumagayan” and “Konsehal,” a big-time drug synidcate and seized two large packs of shabu weighing 200.336 grams on August 18 at Agora Road, Barangay Lapasan, both officers were also awarded by the President.

The award of recognition was awarded to the Iligan City Police Office, Bukidnon Police Provincial Office, Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office and the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo).

From July 1 to September 15, Bukidnon police forces has the highest number of drug personalities who yielded while the Iligan police troops have the highest volume of confiscated illegal drugs.

Misamis Oriental Police was also awarded for conducting the most house visitations in its watch list and for being number one in the Evaluation Rating on Police Regional (PRO)-Northern Mindanao campaign against illegal drugs.

From July 1 to September 1, Cocpo conducted the most number of police operations and filed the tons of cases in the campaign against illegal drugs, was also awarded.

A total of 139, 551 house visitations were organized in the region, 75, 340 drug personalities surrendered were 3,682 are drug pushers and 71, 658 are users, said PRO-Davao spokesperson Police Superintendent Surki Sereñas.

694 legitimate police operations were reported, 24 individuals were killed, 1,043 drug suspects were apprehended and filed 1,099 cases.

Authorities seized about P23,593,100 worth of shabu and marijuana.

In Northern Mindanao, 69 deaths are still under investigation, Sereñas said.

President Duterte stated, “Do not compromise the next generation. Do not be afraid to do your duty. I tell you hindi ko alam na ganito kabigat yung problema, alam ko na meron na tayong problema na ganito, pero I do not know it’s this heavy.”

Sereñas also said amid the cheers from police officers, “I’m not askin you anything, just asking you to do your job well. Arrest them, if there is resistance, na parang you think, ikaw ang mamatay, putang ina patayin mo yan.”

The President gave the outstanding police forces a P250,000 and P20,000 each to the honored police officers.

Senior Police Officer 1 Ronald Eugenio of the Opol Police Station was visited by President Duterte before leaving Cagayan de Oro, at a city hospital as he was injured during the anti-illegal drug operation.
