May 17, Tuesday, authorities said that former policeman Francisco Baguiz who founded the religious group Apocalypse International Ministry, Inc. (AIM, Inc.) was believed to be killed by New People’s Army (NPA) rebels on Monday.

The police said that Baguiz was driving his car when he was halted by a group of armed men wearing Army uniforms in Sitio Kibalikin in Malinao, Gingoog City. According to SPO4 Teddy Macarayo of the Gingoog police, Baguiz got out of his car and he must have thought that the ones who flagged him down were really soldiers.

Macarayo continued that Baguiz was then handcuffed by the armed men and brought to a remote area. There, he was stabbed four times and unfortunately, he didn’t make it to the hospital.

The NPA hasn’t gave their statement towards the allegation yet. However, witnesses said that they identified the suspects behind Baguiz’ death as the NPA rebels.
