In an article posted by Cagayan de Oro News Bulletin, a nongovernment organization, Silid Aralan Inc. and the City Government of Cagayan de Oro launched Silid Aralan Program last September 5, 2017, at the East City Central School, Barangay Lapasan.

The Silid Aralan aims to help young people who are having a hard time to read which results in a number of problems in their studies including a decrease in performance at school.

This program offers two sessions per week, one on weekdays and another on Saturdays for grade 2 students who are recommended to join the school. In addition, there will be students per session who will be provided with learning activities for two hours.

CdeO City Mayor Oscar Moreno said that the Silid Aralan was made possible through the collaboration of the Silid Aralan Incorporated, City Government of Cagayan de Oro, Department of Education and the community as well.

He also hopes that the effort will prove to be successful and will soon be adopted to more schools in the city.
