In an article posted by pianormin.com, a technical-vocational (tech-voc) Senior High School is soon to open at Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan Manresa campus in Cagayan de Oro City which will cater with good academic standings but financially marginalized.
Created through the Andrew L. Gotianun Sr. Center for Integrated Technologies, the program will give full scholarship with free tuition fees and board and lodging to qualified students.
According to Fr. Roberto Yap, SJ, the Andrew Gotianun Foundation has donated a big amount to build to establish the residential school where the students will live for free as part of their scholarship grant under the management of Xavier University.
The donation given will be used to build two building for the phase 1 of the project which will soon accommodate 500 students.
The main goal is to expand the school by building other phases to accommodate more students.
Filinvest Development Corporation Chairman Jonathan Gotianun, the Gotianon family chose Mindanao as the beneficiary based on researches saying that Mindanao continues to lag behind the rest of the country in almost all aspect of development.
In his concluding speech, he encouraged educators, alumni and all sectors to help with the program.
