Kagay-anons can now experience a faster and less data-consuming Twitter experience as one of the world’s most popular social networking sites has launched its first ever Twitter Lite app in the Philippines.

In an article posted on techwiresasia.com, the microblogging giant released a lighter version of its app designed to cater to the millions of Twitter users in the country who are experiencing slow to limited internet connection.

The Philippines is among those countries with slow internet compared with other Asian countries like South Korea and Japan but despite this, the country ranks 1st in having the most number of people who spend a lot of time on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat in a day.

That is why, with the new Twitter Lite, more Filipinos could gain more access to the site even with slow internet connection or with mobile data usage.

The new Twitter app works also works on smartphones running on Android 5.0 and up with 3G or 2G mobile data connections. It also has a feature that limits the number of media being played on the app so that data and memory consumption on mobile devices could also be regulated.

With that, users can go as low as 70% less data consumption and compared with using the standard Twitter app. It also presents a 30% faster response and will only consume less than 3MB of internal memory storage.

The Twitter Lite app can be downloaded in Google Play Store for subscribers in the Philippines.
