Cagayan de Oro would have been a perfect place for the Cartoon Network and Six Flags theme parks if not because of the ongoing crisis in its nearby city Marawi City.

In an article from Meb.News, although the big theme parks backed out on creating a new and vibrant go-to place for Kagay-anons, Philippine Economic Zone Authority adviser to the director general Elmer Francisco, said that instead of dwelling in Cagayan de Oro, they will take area prospects for the theme parks in Central Luzon.

The world’s first Cartoon Network-themed waterpark was established in Thailand on October 2014. Called the Cartoon Network Amazone Waterpark, it houses various Cartoon Network characters such as Ben10, Powerpuff Girls, Chowder, The Amazing world of Gumball and Dexter’s Laboratory. It has a total of 9 water slides and other 150 water features such as Disco Fountain Rain Fortress, two huge buckets of water from Four Arms and Omnitrix and many more. Another great finds is a replica of the Amazon Rainforest.

On the other hand, Six Flags (officially Six Flags Entertainment Corporation), is an amusement park corporation based in the United States. It is the record-holder of the largest amusement park company in the world. It’s first property is situated in Texas state called “Six Flags Over Texas” which was opened to the public on August 5, 1961.

Ever since the Marawi Siege erupted on May 23, ten thousands of potential job opportunities and revenue from the projects on hotels, restaurants and other businesses did not materialize in Cagayan de Oro. However, PEZA said it is now seeking to generate more jobs in Mindanao.
