Wao Residents Spent Their Night Outside Their Homes Due To Aftershocks

In an article posted by Mindanews.com, following the series of earthquakes which took place last Sunday, September 24, the residents of Wao, Lanao del Sur spent the night outside their homes for fear of aftershocks.

According to Chief Francis Garcia, Wao Disaster Risk Reduction Management, the patients from the Wao District Hospital spent their night sleeping outside the hospital building with fears tracing back last April of this year when several aftershocks were experienced by the residents of the town.

He added that 453 houses were partially damaged while 31 were totally damaged destroyed in 9 barangays of the town.

Garcia also said that there are 5 people identified to be injured due to falling debris.

Phivolcs said that the series of earthquakes were aftershocks from a  6.0 magnitude quake that hit the province last April 12.

To date, the local government of ARMM will be sending personnel to help the people of Wao.
