1.2 Million Records From PNP, NBI, & Others Leaked In Huge Data Breach

Mga higala! Around 1.2 million records from various law enforcement agencies like the Philippine National Police (PNP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and others were leaked in a massive data breach!

This was reported by vpnMentor, a leading cybersecurity research company.

According to the report, the said hacking illegally divulged over 800 gigabytes of applicant and employee records from the said agencies (and more), including the following:

  • fingerprint scans
  • birth and marriage certificates
  • TIN data
  • academic transcripts
  • passports

Moreover, the said data or records were allegedly stored in a “misconfigured” and “non-password” protected database.

With this breach, the personal information of many Filipinos may have been exposed and exploited by malicious individuals.
