30 Jun 10-wheeler truck crashes through homes, a mortuary and a funeral in Alubijid
A 10-wheeler truck crashed through three houses, a mortuary and a funeral van, early morning yesterday, June 29, in Alubijid, Misamis Oriental.
Two victims were dead on the spot while other five wounded victims were rushed to OWWA Hospital, Alubijid.
In an article from Sunstar.com, the driver lost control after the brakes malfunctioned causing the truck carrying mineral coal from Zamboanga City to smash through the establishments and vehicle.
The victims were identified as Edgar Elarmo (29 years old) from Tipolonan, Poblacion and Arthuro Librada (45 years old) from Initao, Misamis Oriental. Both were workers from nearby Agreda Funeral Services. The incident happened when they were washing the funeral van.
The truck driver and his companion were identified as Edgar de los Santos from Pagadian and Antonio Ongue respectively and both were brought to the nearby hospital.
In addition to the casualties, Charita Galarita Nob (67) and Aldy Dionson (15) were also brought to the hospital after being thrown out of the house when the incident happened.
It was also found out that a six-month-old infant was also thrown out of one of the three houses when the truck smashed through them and fortunately, survived the incident.
Authorities are still in the process of gathering sufficient information from witnesses and family of those who were killed and injured in the incident.
