31 Jul 11 Killed Including 3 Women and 1 Child As ‘Car Bomb’ Explodes @ Basilan
July 31, 2018. Mga higala! Eleven persons were killed today and 5 were critically injured when a ‘car bomb’ exploded near a military checkpoint in Lamitan City, Basilan, at around 5:30 am.
According to various reports from Inquirer.net and ABS-CBN News, three (3) women, (1) one child, one soldier, five Cafgu members, and the van driver died instantly in the explosion and were blown to pieces.
Based on a statement from Lamitan City Vice Mayor Roderick Furigay, the driver of the van looked like a foreigner and was not able to speak any of our local dialects. He was stopped in the mentioned checkpoint and was about to be approached for questioning when the van suddenly exploded.
