29 May 1,272 displaced individuals recorded at Barangay Barra, Opol since Marawi Siege
In an article from SunStar, Barangay Barra councilor Jonas Bustamante reveals that since dawn of May 24 until this weekend, their barangay officials have recorded 1,272 individuals (adult and children) from Marawi City, who looked for a place to stay in their Barangay.
However, it was also disclosed that most of this visitors are individuals staying with their relatives in the barangay.
Individuals coming from Marawi City are recorded at the checkpoint by a village official. But Bustamante also reveals that they also have miss look other newcomers in their barangay so 1,272 is not yet the official count of individuals who came from from Marawi City.
Bustamante assures that Barangay Health Workers will be conducting a listing through house to house visit.
Barangay Barra humbly welcomes individuals who are looking for a place to stay.
So far no one from the IDPs have asked for food or aid from the barangay but in case there will be requests they are prepared to assist these individuals.
Barangay Barra has already coordinated with the authorities and law enforcement units to have more checkpoints placed in their community and as well enforce strict patrolling and intelligence gathering for the safety of everyone in their village.
