10 Oct 16 Barangay Captains to Create Housing Project Proposals for Their Barangays
After the recently concluded Planning Workshop on Barangay-Based Socialized Housing Projects, 16 pilot barangays are expected to pass their own housing project proposals to the City Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUDD).
In an article from Cagayan de Oro News Bulletin, CHUDD Head Engr. Ermin Stan Pimentel said that the captains of the 16 barangays will not have a hard time with the creation of their own housing program with the things that they learned from the two-day workshop.
The barangay captains are expected to identify who among in their communities are Informal Settler Families (ISF’s) as well as take the lead in negotiating for an area within their barangays where the ISF’s could be relocated. The captain also must be able to assist the identified ISF’s to apply for a housing loan from the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) that is also the partner of the city government for the said housing project.
SHFC President Atty. Arnolfo Ricardo Cabling said that the corporation is always ready to help the barangays and the Urban Poor Groups should they want to avail of their housing loan programs.
Pimentel added that after the barangay captains have already submitted their housing proposals, they will be undergoing another set of trainings.
