Saltwater Crocodile Rescued in Tawi-Tawi

In an article from ABS-CBN News Online, a 16.11-foot saltwater crocodile was captured by fishermen at Barangay Sukabulan, Simanul, Tawi-Tawi last Friday, September 8.

According to Ruben Balcorza of the Simunul Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, the crocodile was first spotted a day before it was captured by local authorities.

When a fisherman tried to approach it, he was shocked to see that it moved. Terrified, he immediately reported the animal’s existence to other fishermen and barangay officials who conducted a rescue operation for the crocodile.

During the rescue operation, it managed to destroy one of the fishing boats used and one of the rescuers fishing nets.

As of this writing, the crocodile is put under the care of the municipal government of Simanul.
