177 Pigs Slaughtered In CDO Due To ASF Infection

Mga higala! A total of 177 pigs were culled last February 11, 2021, in Brgy. San Simon, Cagayan de Oro City, due to the threat of African Swine Fever (ASF)!

The said pigs or hogs were within the 500-meter radius of the “red zone” or the area with confirmed cases of ASF. The culling aims to prevent the further spread of ASF to other farms and barangays.

The pigs were then buried in a safe and remote area.

BTW, don’t worry! The affected hog raisers were provided by the Department of Agriculture (DA) with P5,000 for each pig and an additional P2,000 each from the city government.
