07 Feb 2 High-Ranking NPA Rebels Arrested in Ozamis City
In a report from Sun.Star, last February 4, 2017, Saturday, New People’s Army (NPA) couple identified as Lito Elmedolan a.k.a. ka Ondoy and Maria Bella Elmedolan were arrested through a joint operation by the military and the police at the seaport of Ozamis City in Misamis Occidental.
Found to be high-ranking members of the NPA, with Lito Elmedolan as a member of the Technical Ordinance Committee and his wife as a finance committee member, both come from Prosperidad in Agusan del Sur and are under the commission of NPA in Mindanao. This information came from the Intelligence Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines according to Senior Superintendent Jaysen de Guzman who is the police provincial director for Misamis Occidental.
De Guzman added that with their involvement in the ambush in Danawan, Agusan del Sur, their arrest was by virtue of arrest warrant for multiple attempted murder that was issued by Judge Kimal Salacop of the Regional Trial Court Branch 6, 10th Judicial Region, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. The couple was recommended to bail P120,000 each.
The couple’s presence was monitored by the military when they visited the wake of one of their relatives which led to their arrest inside a barge, as they were about to leave the port area.
It was on February 5, 2017, Sunday, when the couple was brought to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Cagayan de Oro then on the following day, they were presented to the court in Agusan del Sur.
