A six-wheeler truck loaded with canned goods ran over a motorcycle killing two people and injured a woman on board at Zone 6, Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City yesterday, July 26.

In an article from Sunstar.com.ph, the victims were identified as Jeromie Java who was the driver of the motorcycle and a resident of Brgy. Macabalan, and Jessa Joy Ortizo, who was residing along Julio-Pacana St.

After the accident, the victims were immediately rushed to J.R. Borja General Hospital but were then both declared dead on arrival.

Another passenger of the motorcycle who was injured named Camille Ortizo, 22 years old and cousin of Joy Ortizo, is now undergoing medical treatment.

According to investigators, the motorcycle was crossing the highway going to Bulua when it crashed into another motorcycle maneuvering the former to appear on the path of the truck.

During interrogation, the truck driver who was identified as Jaysondane Dayak (36 years old) saw the motorcycle collision so he tried to avoid them. However, he was too close to the two motorcycles reason why he was not able to avoid the accident.

It was also found out that the victims and the truck driver were not under the influence of alcohol.

On the other hand, the family of the victims did not file any criminal charges against the truck driver but tried to make a settlement agreement.

If both parties failed to settle and the family would insist on filing a case, the truck driver would be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide and damage to property.

If no cases will be filed at the end of this day, July 27, Dayak will be released from police custody.
