Embedded along the intertropical convergence zone are two low pressure areas (LPAs) that have brought occasional to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao since Friday and will continue onwards.

State weather bureau PAGASA released updates that the LPA found over the West Philippine Sea moved at 435 kilometers (km) west of Iba, Zambales as of 10 AM. While another LPA outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) was sighted at 1,620 km east of Mindanao. The latter is forecasted to develop into a tropical depression and enter PAR within the next 24 hours, to be locally named as “Ambo” and become the first to hit the Philippines this year.
