2 Public High School Teachers Arrested in a Drug Bust in Macanhan

In a report from Sun.Star, police arrested 2 public high school teachers identified as Belyjon Perez, 36, and Alex dela Vega, 39, in a drug bust conducted at Macanhan, Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City last January 26, 2017, Thursday. Both are teachers of Canitoan National High School and Carmen National High School, respectively.

The arrested suspects are tagged as high value target according to Police Station 8 chief Senior Inspector Dennis Ebsolo. And seized from them were 9 sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu estimated to worth P30,000.

The arrested public high school teachers will be facing charges on violations of section 5 and section 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act or Republic Act 9165.

Ebsolo added that they have been keeping an eye on the activities of the suspects for over two months and they are to probe the suppliers and source of illegal drugs of the suspects.

The information regarding the involvement of the suspects to drugs was provided by fellow teachers of the suspects, as disclosed by Ebsolo.
