2016 CDO Writing Clinic: NAGMAC Now Accepts Literary Fellowship Applications for Poetry, Fiction, Literary Essay, and Drama

Is writing your passion? Then don’t miss this year’s CDO Writing Clinic, an annual literary fellowship spearheaded by the Nagkahiusang Magsusulat sa Cagayan de Oro (NAGMAC), in partnership with the Xavier Center for Culture and the Arts (XCCA).

NAGMAC is now accepting applications to the 2016 CDO Writing Clinic which will be held at the XCCA Conference Room, 3F Museo de Oro, Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan.

The said writing clinic is subdivided into four literary genres, which will include critiquing sessions and other activities to be organized by NAGMAC’s senior writers:

  • Poetry Clinic (September 18, 2016)
  • Fiction Clinic (October 16, 2016)
  • Literary Essay Clinic (November 20, 2016)
  • Drama Clinic (December 11, 2016)

Six (6) fellowships will be chosen among applicants per genre (poetry, fiction, literary essay, and drama) to consist the 24 most promising up-and-coming poets, fictionists, essayists, and playwrights. Accepted fellows will then be provided with a certificate, lunch and snacks.

Applicants must submit the following:

  • Manuscripts (may be in Binisaya, Tagalog, and/or English)
  • Entries should contain (should be original and unpublished works)
    • 4 poems
    • 2 short stories
    • 2 literary essays (creative nonfiction, personal/lyric essays, travel narratives, or memoirs)
    • or 1 one-act play

NOTE: Applicants may apply for more than one genre, should not have been fellows to the CDO Writers Workshops or any regional and national writers workshops.

Regarding with the manuscript, electronic copies (preferably in .docx/.doc format, Garamond font 12) may be emailed to nagmac.submissions@gmail.com with the subject Genre_CDO Writing Clinic (example, Fiction_CDO Writing Clinic). Full name, address (city/town and province in the region), institutional affiliation (workplace and/or school), mobile number, and a short bio note (150-300 words in the third person) must be included on the email’s body. However, author’s name should not appear on the manuscript.

Here are the following deadlines for submission:

  • September 30, 2016 (11:59 PM) – Poetry, Fiction, Literary Essay and Drama
