13 Jul 2016 Philippine National Skills Competition Results: TESDA Region X Wins Gold and Silver
On July 12, Tuesday, during the 2016 Philippine National Skills Competition, the representatives of Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) region X stood tall in the categories of Mechatronics and Electrical Installations, grabbing the gold and silver medals in these sections respectively.
Students of the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) remained impressive as they have always been, by getting the gold medal for Mechatronics. The University has known for its brilliance in Mechatronics from recent competitions countrywide and even abroad. The competitors are Gelmar Coniendo and Junnel Cagampang. Their coach is Cesar Gabo.
Orlie Barioga of Regional Training Center (RTC) Iligan got the Silver Medal with Mr. Peter Agustine as his coach for the category of Electrical Installations.
12 trade areas have been contested by 43 teams, these are welding; graphic design technology; mechatronics; web design; industrial automation; IT network cabling; mechanical CAD; electronics; ITS solution for business; refrigeration and air-conditioning; IT network system administration; and electrical installations.
The Philippine National Skills Competition is the stage for tech-voc graduates and students from all the regions in the Philippines to display their skills in front of the people.
The winners of the contest are set to represent the Philippines in the upcoming 11th ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC) at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this coming October.
All of the participants in this contest have undergone training on Gold Camp 2. The winners will then have their training on the much challenging Gold Camp 3 from July 3 – September 25, in preparation for their stint in Malaysia.
The TESDA X Regional Director Edgar A. Sales is proud of the recent achievements of the representatives from region X, taking part of the TEAM Pilipinas at the ASC 2016.
