Himugso: Birthing a Nation, Birthing a City, Birthing Tomorrow is a joint celebration of two historical events for the city and nation. It refers to the emergence of CDO as a city worthy of emulation.
Himugso is a commemoration of the Philippine Independence Day (June 12) and Cagayan de Oro’s Charter Day (June 15).
In celebration to the Cagayan de Oro City Charter Day and Philippine’s Independence day, the local government, along with its partners, has prepared several activities for you to enjoy and get involved with.
On June 12, 119th Philippine Independence Day, it has been a tradition of CDO to hold a Flag Raising Ceremony with full military honors at Kiosko Kagawasan, Divisoria (6:30AM).
On June 15 , 67th City Charter Day, CDO will also hold a Flag Raising Ceremony at Kiosko Kagawasan, Divisoria (6:30AM). Unveiling of the portrait of the Authors of the City Charter: Max Suniel, Emmanuel Pelaez and Pedro Baculio is something to look forward to.
Mayor Oscar Moreno will deliver the City Mayor’s Annual Report during the Charter Day at Kiosko Kagawasan, Divisoria following the unveiling of the portrait of the Authors of the City Charter.
Of course, Sinuglaw Festival will be present during the celebration, which will happen in all Cagayan de Oro Hotels and Restaurant Association (COHARA) member restuarants in the City.
There will be also a Historical Walking Tour, which showcases the City Government Projects for the past few years.
Hence, various events will be happening around the City for you to feel the Charter and Independence Vibe.
On June 19, another highlighted event for the city is the Celebration of the 100th year of the Jose P. Rizal Monument located in Divisoria, Cagayan de Oro City.
