05 Jul 3 suspected Maute spies arrested in Barangay Macasandig, CdeO
Just this day, three suspected Maute spies were arrested in a raid at Barangay Macasandig.
In an article from topnewsphil.com, the suspects were identified as Gazim Mantawazi Abdullah, Monaliza Solaiman Romato and Tahera Romato Taher.
It was disclosed that the suspects were arrested inside a house rented by a certain Irene Romato Idris.
Authorities revealed that Romato and Taher had gathered intelligence information for the Islamist group and that they also acted as liaison officers for the terrorists.
During the operation, authorities were able to retrieve four (4) M203 grenades (40 millimeter high explosive), a blasting cap, a 9-volt battery with battery holder, a C4 explosive, eight (8) detonating cords, Nineteen (19) 100-watt incandescent bulbs, jungle kine and a plastic bag and plastic bottle containing suspected ammonium nitrate.
These items could be used for making improvised explosive devices, according to the authorities.
It was also revealed that Idris had become the group’s financier after Farhana (former financier) was arrested in Lanao del Sur.
Suspects are currently detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group headquarters and could be facing charges of rebellion and illegal possession of explosives.
