02 Feb 3 Thousand Improvised Explosive Devices, Recovered in Marawi City
As of January 2018, the Armed Forces of The Philippines have recovered over 3 thousand IED’s or improvised explosive devices that were used during the Marawi Siege last May 2017. This has been a huge part of the military’s post-war cleaning operations.
According to Deputy Commander of the Joint Task Force Marawi, Col. Romeo Brawner, the collected bombs are only half of their expected numbers since they are currently at 40% on the clearing operations.
Furthermore, the government has stated that the explosive devices are part of traps left by Maute members and the weapons used by the Philippine Air Foce during the terrorist bombardment last year.
