In the campaign against illegal gambling in Northern Mindanao, the police apprehended 369 individuals allegedly involved in illegal gambling activities.
According to a report from Sun.Star, a total of 276 charges were filed in the court and about P3 million worth of gambling paraphernalia were seized.
There were 347 anti-gambling operations conducted by several police operatives from January to November within this year as stated in the annual report of the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao.
Equipment used in illegal lotto operation and illegal video games such as ‘video karera’ and ‘tolilong’, among others were seized during the anti-gambling operation.
The anti-gambling campaign has been strengthened under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte following the campaign against illegal drugs, said Chief Inspector Mardy Hortillosa II, PRO-Northern Mindanao deputy spokesperson.
The police are eagerly present during court hearings to guarantee the sentence of the arrested individuals, he added.
He also restates the threat of the top official from the PNP concerning the police who protects and cover the illegal gambling operations in the region.
The purging inside PNP is still ongoing, said Hortillosa.
