02 Aug 3rd leg of Shell National Active Youth Chess Championship to be held in CdeO
One of the country’s longest-running chess talent search, the Shell National Active Youth Chess Championship, will be going to Cagayan de Oro City in its 3rd out of 5 stages of regional eliminations on August 12 and 13, 2017 at SM City Cagayan de Oro.
In an article from thestandard.com.ph, the search for the next batch of players who will compete in the nationals this year will be coming from all three divisions, top 2 from the kiddies’, juniors’, and seniors’ division with the addition of one top female player.
After the end of the leg in Northern Mindanao, the venue for the 4th stage of search will be slated at Davao on September 2 and 3 at for Southern Mindanao.
The Shell National Active Youth Chess Championship is a series of chess tournaments held in the regions of the country to discover more talents and to train them to become one of the players of the national team.
The event is organized in partnership with Shell V-Power, Shell Advance, Shell Rimula, Shell Helix, Shell Fuel Save, and Shell Card and held in partnership with SM Supermalls.
To qualify as a player for the tournament, one must be a Filipino who is a non-titled chess player and a student certified by his/her school and registrar.
