PDRRMO Recorded 4 Fatalities, 1 Missing in Misamis Oriental Due to Torrential rains

Heavy rainfall and deluge floods in Misamis Oriental left four dead and one missing as disclosed by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

According to a report from Sun.Star, Fernando Dy, PDRRMO officer-in-charge said that among the four casualties, three of which were children.

Dy identified the fatalities as follows:

  • Jaime Chan, 3 years old, from Agay-ayan village, Gingoog City
  • Kian Montecino, 10 years old, resident of Awang village, Opol
  • CJ Lapuz, 7 years old, from Mahayahay village, Magsaysay
  • Nilo Quiloman, 54 years old, resident of Santiago village, Gingoog City

Abel Uano from Medina town was reported missing.

6,827 victims or about 1,654 families were evacuated, Dy said, adding that as of Tuesday morning, at least 80 percent of the evacuees had returned to their homes.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development distributed 1,315 relief goods to the affected families.

Lugait, Manticao, Medina, and Gingoog City were also affected by the low-pressure area. Lugait and Lagonglong were declared under state of calamity.

The province suffered badly as the initial damage assessment for infrastructure was estimated to cost P1 million.

All municipal disaster offices are encouraged to keep on reporting and monitoring the situations in every town for the Provincial Capitol to evaluate the assistance and aid needed.
