09 Aug 4 MisOr barangays placed under state of calamity due to NPA invasion
Four-hinterland barangays in the municipality of Opol in Misamis Oriental are now placed under state of calamity.
According to the news report of Bombo Radyo CdeO, the decision to place the town under state of calamity came after a supposed invasion of the members of New People’s Army (NPA) which resulted to over 133 families or 600 individuals in Opol fearing for their safety.
Opol Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department Head Engr Rommel Lonoy said that department declared state of calamity in Brgy Tingalan, Nangcaon, Cauyonan and Limonda to facilitate the provision of aid to the evacuees.
As of this writing, Opol Elementary School is currently where the affected families are seeking shelter where they are being taken care of by municipality and the provincial government.
